How To Find Hot Niche Markets

Working out what your niche market will be to start your home business is something that can elicit much excitement. This is when you can put all those great ideas you have had for your business into a plan of action. Give yourself a number of options to work over. Some will be great and some won’t fit. Get more than one so you always have a back up when you start a home business.

Look to 3 sources for ideas:

* A hobby you love: You won’t find many hobbies from which you can’t build a business. And since you enjoy doing it, it won’t be tedious to “go to work” every day. When you pick something for your business that you sincerely like, you will have fun at doing it.

* Your experiences: In life we go though many experiences and you can use these to build a business. For example if you have raised children you can then put all your parenting experience together and start a business related to parenting.

* Your talents: Everyone has one or more talents within them. Dig down and see what yours are. You can start a freelance business using your talents.

Defining your niche market:

1. List out some ideas then put them in the order of what you like the best.

2. Go to the site listed here and put a key word into the overture suggestion tool box: This will bring up the amount of searches that have been done for your keyword and will represent demand.

3. If you search out that same key word on Google search engine http://google.com then you will see websites supplying that item and you will know how many competitors are out there that will be competing with you when you start a home business.

4. If you find a topic that is demanded in quantity but low in the suppliers, you will then make money. This should be your special market for which you do your niche marketing. You will make more money with a niche market as you will reduce and sometimes even eliminate competition. Go through your list of ideas until you narrow it down to about

5. Then go through them again and see which one will fit into a niche market.

Establishing your USP:

Once you have found the concept that fits into a specialized or niche market it is time to establish your USP, Unique, Selling, Point. This is when you will take your idea, and see how you will make your business uniquely different from your competitors. Often neglected, finding the USP is something that new business owners need to do to set their item above the competition. Online businesses are very competitive and you have to stay ahead of the game.

There are two reasons you need to set yourself up as different from others:

1. Get ahead of your competitors

2. To clearly define to your potential customers why your product and service is better than your competitors.

Deciding on your business model:

Part of your business concept will not only be consolidating your ideas but also choosing your business model. There are a few that you can choose from:

* Affiliate marketing-Getting involved with affiliate programs will target your efforts

* Network marketing (MLM)- again this will target your market and idea.

* Marketing-taking the product and selling it

* Service- you should use your talents, which includes freelancing.

You can see there are a number of things you will have to do to get your business concept into operation. But it’s worth it to plan and take care in developing it. It will be your foundation, after all.

Become a Smarter Marketer: Measure What Matters

As marketers, too often we get caught up with the latest fads, tricks, and gimmicks, and completely forget about the notion that marketing is part of the larger picture; finding and keeping profitable customers coming into our businesses.

As such, we tend to forget about measuring the effectiveness of our marketing efforts. Concepts like ROI and budgets are left to our colleagues in the Finance Department. This, of course, is to the detriment of our businesses, as Marketing and Finance (and Operations) all have to work together in a coordinated effort if we are to be successful.

The following link takes you to an article titled “Measure What Matters”. It was written by Deena Katz, an associate professor in the division of personal financial planning at Texas Tech University. In it, Deena not only writes about measuring your marketing (and what needs to be measured), but also how to fine tune your marketing efforts to get where you want to be.

I hope you enjoy this article.

5 Keys to Successful Internet Marketing

With internet marketing becoming more and more popular what are the keys you need to make a success of your internet marketing endeavors? What things do you need to know or do in order to be a success at internet marketing?

1. List Building

If you have been in internet marketing for any length of time you will have heard the saying “the money is in the list”. Why do people say that? List building is vital to internet marketing because it gives you ongoing contact with your prospective customers. The first time people visit your website or your affiliate’s website they are not likely to buy the product. It has been said that a person needs to be exposed to something about seven times before they act on it so if you are just letting people drift by your website without getting their contact details then the chances are they will forget about it and you will lose the money. If, however, you have a list building system in place you can expose people to your product or your affiliate’s product as many times as you like and sooner or later if they are really interested they will buy something from you.

2. Targeted versus non-targeted traffic

Another important aspect of internet marketing is the quality of traffic you are driving to your website. If all the traffic you are getting to your website is non-targeted (traffic exchanges, safelists, etc.) then you will make relatively few sales because the people are not really interested in what you have to offer. However, if you target your advertising and use marketing techniques such as article marketing, forum marketing or targeted email groups then you are more likely to make sales because you are advertising to people who are already interested in your product.

3. Give the people what they want

If you want to sell to people you need to give them what they want. Different people are looking for different things but one way to ensure that you are reaching a fairly large group of people interested in your subject is to do some keyword research. If you can find an area where many people are looking but where there is relatively little competition then you have hit on a winner. If you are one of few companies meeting a large group of people’s needs then you will notice the effect of that in your bank balance. In internet marketing this is known as niche marketing.

4. Develop Multiple Income Streams

By developing multiple income streams you are reaching a variety of different target groups, preparing yourself well to adjust to cycles in the economy and marketplace and “not putting all your eggs in one basket”. This is therefore an important aspect to internet marketing and one you definitely need to consider.

5. Stay Focused

This may sound like a complete opposite of point four but it really is not. Although you want to have multiple income streams you also want to stay focused. You may choose to focus on a specific area or a specific product. You may choose to focus for example on dogs and then diversify by selling dog products as well as books and e-books about dogs. You could also choose to focus on information products and then sell e-books on many different subjects or set up adsense websites on a number of different subjects so focusing on product but diversifying your target market.

These five keys to internet marketing – list building, targeted advertising, niche marketing, multiple income streams and staying focused are vital to your internet marketing success and should be aspects that you consider carefully when establishing your internet business.

How to Get Started With Niche Marketing

Niche marketing is marketing that targets a specific crowd, and then produces products specifically for that crowd. It can also mean selling products that large companies don’t usually sell. This is done for a few reasons; first, the manufacturing probably won’t be as expensive, since not as many of these products have to be made. Also, the profit from sales of these products goes more to one company rather than the other ten that also make the product. Niche marketing has many perks, but one problem is not knowing where to get started on your business venture. The article below gives a few basic things to think about when first starting out. These are the usual first steps of every successful business.

Choosing A Target
The first thing to do is target a specific group that you want to gear your company toward. You want to pick a fairly broad group, but then again one small enough so that only your company (very few competitors) will manufacture products for this group. For example, maybe you want to pick out a group that wears a specific type of clothing, and you know that large companies don’t make lots of clothing for this group. Your company may want to think about making the clothing for this group. So pick your target first.

Pick A Product
After you’ve got your group picked out, you want to start thinking about the product(s) you will manufacture and sell for this group. Clothing? Accessories? Home decor? Pet supplies? This part can be tricky as well because you want a product that is rarely made, but you also want one that people are going to want to buy. You also don’t want your product to be really expensive to manufacture and sell, because this will end up costing you more money than you’re making in the end.

Pick A Price
Choosing a price to sell your product at is very important. You want profit, but you want to sell at a price low enough so that your consumers will be happy and keep coming back. If you choose a product that is fairly inexpensive to make and sell, you won’t have to jack your prices up so much. You might want to think about making your product cost as much as the manufacturing plus half. So lets say you are selling a large toy that costs one hundred dollars to make. If you sell at one hundred and fifty dollars, you will earn back your manufacturing cost plus half extra, so you profited fifty dollars in one sale.

Evaluating Your Decisions
You will now want to decide how successful your choices have been. Is the product selling? Is it popular and are people interested? Do people enjoy your prices? Are they telling their friends? Is the money you’re making worth this effort? If not, you should consider changing some things. If you’re satisfied, sit on your decisions a while more and see if they continue to work out well.
